Marigold has been having Issues of Smell. Yeah, there's a song for that, but it hasn't been about what we feed her, it's about how overweight she is and how fat folds collect moisture and this is surely TMI, but there it is. She had this type of rot all over her back a couple of years ago and I couldn't afford a vet, so I just kept bathing her (which she hated, of course) and trimming away the matted fur which left oozy flesh underneath and then doctoring the sores with arnica and tea tree oil. Say what you will, they all healed. Now she's gotten her rear end clotted with things we don't want to think too closely about and there's the rot again.
She does not like the cat carrier. She does not like riding in the car. She does not like sitting in the cat carrier in a waiting room full of dogs. She does not like being weighed and told she's 19 pounds. And one ounce. (All these cats in the house and she's the only obese one -- and it's not like she spends her whole day with her head in the food bowl.) She does not like being examined. She didn't much mind being shorn of the fur on her backside and having her topical medications begun, although it thrills her not to have a pill dropped down her throat twice a day.
And furthermore ... she has fleas. Lots of fleas. Serious flea treaments for five cats -- simple, but expensive.
Marigold is going to be feeling much better soon but right now she doesn't want to see either of us up close.

Poor Marigold. She's like "I will stab you.". But hey, ya know...that's what you get for being a skanky cat.
Well, we all have our issues, right? Our cat is about 23 pounds, but he's supposed to be huge for his breed. At least he's in the very best hands with you, Mom.
